A student of FIT and dweller of New York City for 7 years, I have called Chicago home for 4 years now. Wedding photography fell in to my lap while I was in school. I had been shooting mostly fashion, and working in a restaurant to pay for my classes and camera equipment, when a co-worker asked if I would like to photograph her cousins wedding on Staten Island. I said yes, having no idea where to begin, bought a bunch of film and decided to wing it. It was a crazy day, with less than 5 minutes of sitting still, but when I went through the contact sheets I was pleasantly surprised by the results. I was offered several more wedding jobs from friends of friends and soon realized I liked the work so much that I wanted to pursue it full time. I have had the privilege of working alongside some terrific photographers in Chicago, assisting and second shooting for some of the best, and they have all been wonderful teachers. Every time I shoot a wedding I am reminded of why I love the job so much, and how awesome it is to be a central part of someone's wedding day. I recently had a groom insist on taking a picture with me because he said he wanted a picture with the person who documented the most beautiful day of his life. How could I refuse? Whether I am behind a digital camera or toting a vintage flea market TLR, I love taking pictures, and weddings are the perfect outlet for me to create artistic and beautiful photographs for someone to treasure forever.
